Over the past year or so, the mountain bike world has seen the evolution of a new tyre size enter the ranks - The 27.5" Plus. Equipped with a wider 27.5" x 3.0" tyre, this new wheel size allows for greater traction on the trail and more stable cornering on the berms. The bigger tyres and the 120mm suspension fork also add to the suspension-free simplicity of the bike, allowing it to easily handle technical trails normally requiring a dual suspension setup.
The new Polygon Entiat TR6, 27.5 Plus Trail bike combines the benefits of the high end technology in this new frame and wheel set up with no nonsense, all day performance components that are affordable.
At the centre of the TR6 is Polygon's trail ready ALX Boost alloy frame with the new BOOST system (hub system originally developed by SRAM - 12x148mm rear, 15x110mm front). With wider Boost hub flanges, it allow the spokes on the wheelset to make a wider triangle which results in more support for the rim and a stronger overall wheel. Compared to a regular hardtail mountain bike which is normally designed for XC riding, the slacker headangle (66.5 degrees) combined with the shorter chain stays allow the bike to be ridden in more vertical / technical environments. The oversized wheels and tyres provide added cushioning to the ride while the Rockshox Recon Silver front suspension fork with 120mm of travel and hydraulic lockout helps soak up the big hits.
The TR6's groupset combines a 1 x 10 Shimano Deore drivetrain with a Samox Crankset running a Narrow-Wide 32T chainring and Shimano Deore shifters. Shimano's M365 hydraulic disc brakes take care of the stopping power providing excellent modulation in all conditions. The TR6 rolls on a set of Entity Boost 27.5+ wheels wrapped in Schwalbe Nobby Nic 27.5" x 3.0" tyres.
The bike is completed with Entity Xpert stem, saddle, seatpost and handlebar, all of which balance weight savings with the kind of durability mountain biking demands. Like its bigger sibling, the TR8, the TR6 is an extremely versatile and fun bike to ride. Whether you are a newcomer to mountain biking or an experienced rider looking to get more out of your ride, the Entiat TR6 should be on your wish list with its lightweight, snappy performance around the trail and huge traction on the berms and uphills. This is a bike that will have you grinning from ear to ear on your next riding adventure.
